Safety, Sustainability, & Community

Safety

At Satterfield Woodworking, safety is our number one priority. We have safety measures in place to ensure our employees are protected. From automated machinery to hand tools, our company teaches and encourages mindful operation in all aspects of production. This level of attentiveness and safety has allowed our company to achieve an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of .76 in 2018. This rating has a considerable impact on our business, as it is used by insurance companies in order to assess past cost of injuries and future possibilities of risk.

Sustainability

Along with the safety of our workers, we aim to protect the environment in our building practices. Our knowledgeable team can assist in sourcing sustainable raw materials inherent to achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifications and goals. LEED is the most universally used green building rating system. It can be used for buildings, communities, and projects. This certification is seen as a global symbol of sustainability.

We maintain the ability to fabricate products utilizing raw materials that meet the following guidelines.

  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)- This certification validates that the forests the wood has been obtained from provide not only environmental benefits but social economic benefits as well.
  • California Air Resources Board (CARB2)- This certification process verifies the reduction of formaldehyde emissions as well as shielding the public from toxins released into the air.
  • No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) and Ultra Low Emitting Formaldehyde (ULEF)- This certification shows that the products we use have ultra-low to no added formaldehydea toxin harmful to humans and the environment.

We understand the future relies on our ability to minimize excess and limit resource consumption. Drafting engineers work diligently to optimize the fabrication process, resulting in marginal waste. Additionally, our company has transitioned to the use of low VOC raw materials where possible in our fabrication process.

Giving Back to the Community

Satterfield Woodworking considers the responsibility of assisting those in need an integral part of our organization. In an effort to better the community, we are honored to support local charities such as Greer Community Ministries, Chamber events, Safe Harbor, and Cops for Tots. Rather than only donating monetarily and through sponsorship, Satterfield Woodworking is proud to provide labor resources or materials in whatever form is needed.
